Love is patient. God is love. God is patient.
We could find many illustrations about the patience of Jesus, but none compare to how he treated Saul (Paul).
(written by Paul) The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. (1 Timothy 1:15-16)
I mean Jesus knocked him off his horse and said, “Saul, why do you persecute me?” Yet, Jesus chose him to display the greatness of his patience!
Simple lesson…… has anyone treated you in any way compared to how Saul persecuted Jesus? No is the answer for everyone of us everyday in America. There are some Christians who are suffering this way, but not us. Slow traffic, selfish sales clerks, swindling mechanics, lying politicians, rebellious children, we could go on. Indeed we understand the King James use of 1 Corinthians 13:4 when it says, “Love is long suffering.” Oh, we suffer long, but nothing like Jesus suffered from Saul. And how did he treat him? He pursued him then he forgave him. Why? Love is patient.
